My wife and I work full time and we would like to offer a weekend boarding service in our home and property, obviously it would be better to offer 7 days a week, but could a weekend boarding facility be profitable?

Not at all! That could cost a lot of money. Not only that but you need the right contracts and permits to have allow you to do some things. Dog Boarding means the dogs will live wiuht you for the whole week. That can cost money with the damge they do and all other expenses. Now just think. They will destroy things in your home. They are untrained dogs. If they were trained they would not go to dog boarding. Not just that but some dogs don’t get along. You could have a huge dog fighting problem. If I were you i would not do it.

If the dogs feel that someone, or some other animal, is threatening this sense of dominance, he would likely stage an attack. The other type of dogs’ aggression is protective in nature. If the dog feels like you would attack it, it would surely retaliate in defense. The same goes for fear-motivated dogs’ aggression. If there is fear, the dog would not think and act naturally, making it become jittery and become aggressive.

There is a territorial sense in the dog, so if someone or some other animal intrudes its territories, the dog would turn aggressive. Dogs’ aggression could also be redirected. If the animal becomes mad at someone, but could not possibly attack him, the dog could redirect his aggression into someone else.

Dealing with the dogs’ aggressive behavior

Now that you have a brief but concise background about the nature and possible causes of dogs’ aggression, you now understand what and how dogs could turn rowdy and dangerous. Make sure you try not to arouse feeling of threat or fear into the dog so it would not behave aggressively.

For sure, you now know some of your mannerisms and actions that could make your dog behave aggressively. Avoid doing those actions when the dog is around to prevent any possible attack or dogs’ aggression.

If you could not help the aggressive behavior, it would be better to seek professional help for dogs’ aggression so your dog could not harm anyone else. Prior to doing so, confine your dog inside a secluded place or a cage. Never let it loose free because it might suddenly attack or bite bystanders and other animals.

Do not punish the dog because doing so would only make the animal behave more aggressively. Because you are the smarter between the two of you, your dog and yourself, be more understanding and patient.

Whenever our 2 yr old Beagle/JRussell mix gets excited (like when I first get home or tell him we are going to the park), he will run around and then try to bite the back leg of our other older dog (a Brittany). He doesn’t bite hard, it seems playful, but I am wondering if it is normal and should I try to stop this behavior.

It could be a control thing. Maybe there is another breed in him? Like a little cattle dog or something?

My border collie tries to "herd" my catahoula and chihuahua by doing this. She’ll nip and grab onto their back legs. She usually does this if she is trying to "stop the movement". Its her way of telling the other two that she doesn’t approve of the excessive barking, playing, running, etc.

She does this behavior during play as well. Sometimes she’ll initiate play this way. I think its a herding dog "thing", as a friend of mine has 3 aussies and they all do this to each other. but maybe other breeds do it too?

Aggressive dog training is a hard job to do without some form of help.  Books on dog behavior are an excellent resource that can guide you through basic dog obedience training and help you learn how to stop dog behavior problems (for example, dog aggression).  So, if you want to train your dog in the house and don’t want to spend a ton of money on training lessons, then a book on dog behavior is an excellent investment!

Five Suggestions you need to start correcting aggressive dogs:

• Bring your puppy to meet a bunch of different people and expose him to new surroundings.
• Give your puppy lots of physical contact so he can get used to being handled.
• Show your dog that it is you who rules the coop.
• Obedience training lessons should never be too long, inconsistent, or sporadic.
• Reward your dog with treats or attention when he obeys you, and seclude him when he fails to.
