At dog boarding kennels, are there people that sleep at the kennel over night to watch the dogs?

Like a night guard. Or are the dogs kept alone in their cage thingys?

Depends on the Kennel. If you are considering boarding your dog, ask them what their overnight policy is.

I know there are several kennels near me that are actually part of the owner’s house/home, so they are there basically 24/7.

Some kennel owners live on the property, but few have staff with the pets overnight. Depends on the kennel.

When I boarded my dog at Petsmart PetsHotel, there’s someone there 24/7.
I looked into Camp Bow Wow, they don’t have anyone there at night.

Some boarding kennels are staffed over night. Some even have online access with camcorders in the kennel so you can view you pet while you are on vacation. You would have to contact the Boarding kennels in your area and see what features that they offer.

It depends on the place. I know of a place where employee’s will sleep with the dogs if requested.

I actually lived above a kennel business that i worked at. If there was a storm I would go downstairs and check on the ‘babies’
There are alot of kennel businesses where the owner might not be in the facility but they live within minutes on or near the property.
If you want your beloved furry friend to have someone 24/7 I would recomend a stay in pet sitter.

    Depends on the kennel

I have a friend who works at a "pet resort" and there are staff there 24-7.

Some boarding kennels are actually on someone’s private property (My house once had boarding kennels in the property)

Some facilities do not have staff there at nite tho.

No decent boarding kennel owner leaves the premises unattended at night. Most actually have their house there beside the kennel. They often have live in staff, and family who are always there. also.

You should NEVER put your dog in a boarding kennel without visiting it before hand, and being taken on a tour of the premises. You should also ask questions like the one you are asking now. And ask to see some of the other staff. If the owner or manager refuses, then look for another kennel. the best time to go and see kennels is in the afternoon, as this gives staff time to get the cleaning out of the way.

Always start looking for one as long before you need it as you can, as in most cases the really good ones are booke from one year to the next.

This place is an absolutely luxury for dogs near where I live. Complete with 24-hour guard, and they will even pick up and drop off your dog by limo!

The dog daycare/boarding facility I work at, unfortunately, does not have a 24-hour guard. I have suggested it to my boss numerous times (I, and a few other coworkers, wouldn’t mind picking up those overnight hours!), but she, for whatever reason, won’t have it. We luckily have never had any overnight incidents as we do the best we can to assure that the dogs are the safest they can be at night.
But, there are indeed places which have 24-hour care.
